how to create your vision board

by Andrea on February 6, 2010

grab a pair of scissors, a glue stick and a piece of poster board…that’s right you’re gonna dream BIG!

go through magazines, junk mail, catalogs, travel guides and don’t forget the internet, what you’re looking for are images and words you are drawn to. don’t judge what you’re cutting out, if you like it cut it out. you may learn something about yourself.

now go through your stash and play around with them by laying them on your poster board. are you seeing a trend in the things you have chosen? if there is something you really Know you want, find a picture of it, or take a picture of it and include it on your vision board. take a picture of yourself with the item you desire. if you can’t find the words you like, print them out or cut out individual letters and make the word you need.

don’t have a preconceived notion of what your vision board “should” look like. let your inner spirit guide you.

look at your vision board everyday. be available!

i’ve been making vision boards since i was teen, i just didn’t know they were called vision boards. a couple years ago i had a get together with a bunch of friends and we all made vision boards. one girl put an engagement ring and a wedding dress on her board. she and her boyfriend had planned to get engaged in 6 to 8 months. two weeks after she sent her vision out to the universe her boyfriend proposed to her, with the ring that was on her vision board! and no, she had not shared her vision board with him. cool, huh! even if you don’t “believe” in the concept i’m presenting, at the very least, a vision board helps to guide and focus you on your goals or interests.

Here’s a representation of my dreams desires and interests.

so there you have it GO! play…have fun…dream big…when you were young, really young, i bet you had big dreams. do that again…who knows what you might learn about yourself.

Hi Andrea, I am intrigued by your vision board as it has so many great words on it to focus on. I also love all the references to international cities and of course the fitness elements. Looking at it makes me want to read more on your blog! Thank you.
